John Conroy Hart of Chicago checks in with this brilliant update:

"After several years of humiliation serving as a straight-handlebar,
flat-pedal commuter, my 1985 Peugeot PGN-10 has returned to its
original configuration.

Purchased on layaway from the former Bicycle Exchange on Bow Street,
Cambridge, this is the very bike that traveled the grueling Tour de
Dorchester, Quincy & Milton throughout the '80s and '90s. I survived
freezing rain, near heat stroke, and was even struck in the sternum by
an egregiously misplayed golf ball while aboard this fine example of
French manufacturing.

So peg your pants, put an Echo and the Bunnymen cassette in your
Walkman, and saddle up Will's Raleigh. If you ride out to Chicago, I
will personally pay for a round of Ms. Pac Man."
