novara gloves
Readers of this space will recall there was a time when I reviewed a Novara rain jacket. The house brand of REI, Novara is a price point offering. A lot of quality for a little bit of money. The rain jacket that got me through the wettest spring in the history of New England is still going strong.
So it was with no small amount of enthusiasm I examined a pair of Novara full-fingered gloves, on sale, for $11.99. The size medium fit perfectly. The second I put them on, I was in love.
The gloves are snug, the dexterity is so good you can count change, and the finger tips have a touch of friction on them for effortless shifting.
Best of all, new gloves do not smell. Old gloves smell like a wet billy goat. Wash them as many times as you want, they still smell.
REI has a lot of nice things. You can't beat a Novara product. Back before Derby Street was Derby Street, there was another store there that advertised "good stuff cheap." It was true then. It's still true now.
And now we offer some good karma to an old friend, Cheese Louise. She hurt herself up in Maine and is nursing herself back to health. Please offer the Cheese your good karma.

What was the name of the jacket?
Sorry, don't have the model name. It was and still is a novara neon green cycling jacket with zip pocket in the back and velcro closures on the wrists. The seams are all taped on the inside. It also has some reflective stuff on the piping that helps with the "don't hit me" vibe.
