News from Father Hart of Chicago
John Conroy Hart, one of our favorite correspondents, sends us news from Chicago. Previously, his bicycle has been featured on these pages. For newcomers, Father Hart was born and bred and Boston and later fled for Chicago. He has adopted the cubs and has not returned to the Hub ov the Universe in quite some time.
He writes,
" I was up at Lake Geneva (the Kennebunkport of Southern Wisconsin) and thought of you: One of the
many, many perfect speedboats I saw there was a vintage wooden Chris-
Craft with "Jo Jo" painted in royal-and-gold script at the stern. If
only you put away your canvas and picked up a gas can, it would be
the perfect vessel to add to your armada.
Great article on the BPD tip line. That's a heck of an effective
program, especially in that short a time. My dad (former BPD
employee) would've been pleased to know a good kid from Hull had
something to do with it. It makes up somewhat for me never taking the
police exam when I had the chance.
Not much to report from out here on the bleak northern prairies.
Working at DDB mostly, on McDonald's and various other opportunities.
The Lincoln Square Oktoberfest has just ended, so all the portly,
mustachioed middle-aged gents are migrating to their winter drinking
grounds. Interminable media coverage of the Bears has begun in
earnest. The Cubs have yet to collapse. Ah, early autumn.
