To the Tour de France Challenge Class of 2007,

Congratulations. And welcome to one of the most elite clubs on earth, those who have ridden the Tour de France.

You’ve already paid your dues. You trained for a year for the ride. You made the financial sacrifices to pay the tuition.

Now, comes the fun part and the suffering. Enjoy every second of it: the heat, the climbs, the descents, the lunches, most of all the team dinners.

Take care. Of yourself. Of your teammates. Of your situations, your issues, your overuse injuries.

And make sure when the staff is up to speed, you get Joe Tonon on the bike, on the road, on the front, setting the pace, directing the team. Along with the grizzled veteran Jimmy and the insanely strong Patrick, he’ll deliver you and your dream, all the way to Paris.
