Coach Ken's regatta story

Jeff Cruise'06/Chryssa Rask'08 nipped Tim Fallon'97/Karen Renzulli on a
tie breaker to take the 2007 Tufts Alumni Regatta at Mystic Lake. Upon
crossing the finish line it appeared one of two undergrad boats with
Michael Easton'08/Peggy Tautz'10 had joined the other two in the tie but
they retired after finishing. Easton was as fast today as he was all
year in the light air. Winds were calm until noon, racing began at 1:30
in 2 knots of breeze which built to no more than three before dying in
the last race. Fortunately we were sailing Larks which go as fast as
the wind in light air and in good breeze, like last year, plane all over
the lake.

Bryan Prior'06/Francine Magasinn'09 won the opener and wound up third.
Another '06 grad, Tommy Leach/Meredith Ginley'08 took 4th with Easton
5th. The other undergrad skipper, Dan Altreuter'09/Denise Feirstein'10
beat his dad, former college-sailor-of-the-year Sam Altreuter, in each
race for 6th. Francis Blesso, '91 captain, sailing with Lara Hwa'09
took 7th just ahead of Joe Berkeley, '88 captain, sailing with Katie
Greenlee'08.

Three boats from the '70s competed in good spirit. Besides Altreuter we
had Platt'77/Nancy Johnson and Andy Klein'77/Deb Muse. It was also
great to see two members of the class of '83 sailing together, Jarrett
Collins and Karen Shapiro Goldaber, the latter sailing in her vintage
Henri-Lloyd suit. Several other alums came down to watch including Sam
Kerner'89 with his family, John Kirk'87, Alex Conway'02 and Reid Van
Gorder'04.
