thanks to Sweeney and the team

A few weeks ago, Bryan Sweeney, a fellow cyclist, had a horrific crash. To cheer him up, we posted his picture on this blog, and asked people to write to him. Well, I am pleased to inform you that one young, single lady from the midwest was quite smitten with Mr. Sweeney, and sent him a kind note. She was also interested in his availability. Mr. Sweeney is married with four children, but we're sure he found the attention good for morale.

Mr. Sweeney and his associate Mr. Keyser thought it would be good to drum up some support for my effort. They passed the hat to purchase some essential equipment. Bryan rode in France a few years ago, and wished he had some gear with him. Here he is presenting me with the finest shorts ever made, which are supposed to be kind to the undercarriage.

The package also included a beautiful raincoat, socks, full-fingered gloves, and undershirts, all top-quality stuff.
