Dunkin Team Runs It Off

The team that plays together stays together. Dunkin’ Donuts group creative director Tim Cawley organized a four-mile fun run with team members Scott Noble, Megan O’Connell, and Lindsay Bowen.

For Mr. Cawley, it was a bold move. Miss O’Connell and Miss Bowen recently completed a half marathon in New York City. While the event was grueling, it called for creative endurance as well.

Soon after finishing the maximum-effort run, Miss O’Connell, who routinely knocks out seven-minute miles, sat down on the Fung Wah bus for the long drive back to Boston with her partner and roommate, Miss Bowen. Rather than relax and recap the victory, the duo concepted point of purchase executions for Dunkin’ Donuts that were due the very next day.

During the past 12 months, Mr. Noble, who is often shooting on location on behalf of client Dunkin’Donuts, has become a regular runner and fitness enthusiast. Rest assured, when Mr. Noble travels to Los Angeles, his running shoes accompany him. While Mr. Noble has made great progress conquering his personal demons, he is still an ornery character, very much like Oscar the Grouch.

Friday afternoon, all of the children of co-workers were coming to the Hancock Tower to do a little trick or treating. I laid out my candy in a silver dish and placed it upon an upside-down recycling bin just outside of my door. Mr. Noble came slouching down the hallway, and said, "Oh look, some candy." The he kicked the recycling bin out from under the bowl and sent my Martha Stewart-perfect display flying.

Bad form. Soon, Mr. Noble found himself on the receiving end of a half-Nelson and he was pinned to the floor for a three count. He claims both shoulder blades were not on the floor but honesty has never been Mr. Noble's strong suit. Yet when he donned running attire later in the day, all was forgiven.

On a perfect fall day, the Dunkin’ team completed every step of the four-mile jaunt in a hair over 32:00. After reviewing Mr. Cawley’s performance, Miss Bowen said, “I think Tim’s turned the corner on his fitness.” Miss O’Connell said Tim’s run exceeded her expectations.

The fact that both Miss Bowen and Miss O'Connell report to Mr. Cawley in no way, shape, or form influenced their statements.
