Pete

A couple of days ago, I got to visit Peter Hixson, my college roommate, who lives in Pasadena. I rode my bicycle from Santa Monica to Glendale, and the traffic on Wilshire was perilous. Buses honked, cars swerved, pedestrians disapproved.
But the point of the journey was to see Pete, and it was worth it. I arrived at his work, Rough Draft studios, a place that creates animation for shows like Futurama.
Pete sits up on the third floor of the building, and there’s nice natural light up there. The building is beautiful, and the company is expanding. Very nice.
Glendale is picture perfect, and the police are extremely enthusiastic about enforcing all laws. They are known to hand out tickets to pedestrians for J-walking. The fine is $100 per incident. If Boston were to enact such fines, the city could balance its budget in one afternoon.
This photo is of the theatre across the street from Pete’s office. The Alex hosts an animation festival once a year, and it attracts people from around the country.
Pete is doing well, and swimming fast. His time for intervals is almost identical to those he posted in college. Only challenge is recovery time is far longer, which is true of all Master’s athletes.
